ChatGPT’s language model GPT-3’s successor is coming next week, according to Microsoft Germany’s CTO. OpenAI’s new large language AI model “GPT-4” is expected to be significantly more powerful than its predecessor, bringing new use cases for generative AI.

Andreas Braun, CTO of Microsoft Germany, said the system will arrive soon. Braun has described GPT-4 as a game changer in AI because it will be the next step towards accurate human interpretation. This announcement was made during the “AI in Focus – Digital Kickoff” event in Germany.

“We will introduce GPT-4 next week, there we will have multi-modal models that will offer completely different possibilities – for example, videos,” said Braun in comments first reported by German media outlet Heise.

A multi-modal LLM can obtain information from a wide range of sources. This could allow it to gather information from videos and images found on the internet. OpenAI’s current LLM, GPT-3.5, is entirely text-based.

Earlier this month Microsoft revealed details of Kosmos-1, a model that can draw on the text and visual data.

Microsoft has said multiple times that it intends to incorporate AI into its products. Thus far, ChatGPT has been integrated into Teams, Bing, and Edge. Now, the next-gen GPT-4 is expected to further boost the capabilities of Microsoft’s products.
